Now that we are all well into our political grieving and venting following last Tuesday’s big let down, it’s time to start planning!

We all know more about Bush this time around and we know we need to be vigilant and active. Mere anger at his policies and attitudes will not help in any way. So what are each of you going to do to make a positive difference?

Here’s my agenda:

Continue to support the California League of Conservation Voters.
Write to GWB (via email) whenever I think he’s gone off course. (He doesn’t reply but often my concerns are addressed in the news within a few weeks – he must get lots of the same comments)
Write to Feinstein and Boxer to encourage their strong, principled stands.
Support to the Hunger Project at my church. And, cheer for our pastor’s generous theology (he is not a Bush supporter, either!)
Continue supporting some children around the world through Compassion International, helping low income families get houses through Habitat for Humanity and feeding poor folks through Heifer International.

Get active!

…you forgot sell-out sycophantic Iranians, Cubans, Vietnamese, Venezuelans and Koreans who do not know themselves, their people or the rest of the world, and prefer the nice, tidy elective suburban oblivion found in the ‘burbs. They would sooner see their nations of origin destroyed by the Bush military-fiscal machine rather than wake up to the truth. Denial is a nasty river to drown in.

These people, as well as the rest of the ‘red-staters’, are under the tragically false impression that our economic way of life will sustain indefinitely, that money can be printed by the Fed out of thin air, that all oil belongs to us as custodians, and that other cultures must eventually meld into our own. Ironically (or maybe not so), that’s precisely the level of self-assured, myopia the last superpower assumed.

These ‘happy, shiny people’ will be the first to fall.
