Oileo Old-eevil
I love EEUU. Bush’s policy on energy is this:
- Build more refineries in old army bases.
- Drill Anwar.
- Ask the Saudis pretty please (even though oil
prices are controlled on the trading floor).
Why do people love this guy again?
Aside from that, here’s what I think will happen in
the next 5 years:
- Toyota and Honda will continue to be at the
forefront of hybrid-izing their current fleet of
vehicles and capture the lion’s share of this new
market (again). - The big three US makers will continue to falter as
they pray to the SUV rosary. I’m happy to report,
billions in losses from unsold trash tanks already.
Ford’s last financial statement was God awful. - British Petroleum will become the first major
distributor to begin retrofitting stations with fuel
cell refueling pumps (Shell already started this with
a prototype in Iceland, but BP will overtake them).
Will start in LA, and New York and spread inward (long
after, of course, the EU already has hundreds of such
stations in place). - Hugo Chavez will stop selling to the US entirely in
favor of an exclusive deal with China. - Venezuela is invaded by a new paramilitary group
based in the Colombian highlands. The group is
remarkably well trained and armed. - Dozens attend the inauguration of Venezuela’s new
president, Generalisimo Pancho Lameculo - Lula keeps his mouth shut.
- Airbus announces breakthrough development in new
aircraft engine that combines gasoline with hydrogen
power. - Boeing sues Airbus for [insert something here
having to do with France] - Something to do with Fiat something.
I leave for the EU in three weeks. Kids, stay tuned
for field reports.
Much Love,
me
