I guess that stint waiting tables in high school made me an over tipper. I'm also a fan of "divide by N" for calculating portions owed for a big group, because the person collecting the money usually gets screwed. Sure, the diner who gets 3 drinks and a premium entree makes out better in this scheme than the one who orders a salad and drinks water... so in this scenario it is in your interest to always be the one living it up ;) I divide by 5 for the tip usually, unless they suck… I guess that stint waiting tables in high school made me an over tipper.
